Doon Academy campus officer, PC Frank Kennedy and Ross Stormonth from Active Schools welcomed sixty young people to Dalmellington recently for a No Knives Better Lives football tournament.
First and second year pupils from Cumnock, Doon and Grange Academies joined their campus officers for the action packed tournament.
The focus of the tournament was very much on fun and the only prize on the day was a fair play award which was presented to Grange Academy.
No Knives Better Lives is an extremely successful campaign, led by the Scottish Government, which highlights the dangers of violent crime, helping to divert young people away from antisocial behaviour.
Frank Kennedy said: “This was a brilliant event. The young people really got behind the tournament, training hard in the weeks running up to the competition. No Knives Better Lives is a worthwhile campaign which has a significant impact on young people. The tournament was great fun for everyone involved but there was serious message which we got across really well to our pupils.”
The young people were provided with bibs and t-shirts from No Knives Better Lives.
