New eBuilding Standards portal goes live

Building a new property, or making alterations to existing premises just became even quicker and easier, thanks to a new, Scotland wide, digital initiative.

The Scottish Government’s newly launched portal is designed to simplify the way in which applications are made, speeding up and simplifying the way in which Building Warrant applications and related documents are submitted and processed by local authorities.

The portal enables people to apply for their building warrants and other related forms, such as completion certificates, online.  And for complex developments, involving team or partnership working, everyone involved can access the site and collaborate on producing a single application.

The new portal will sit alongside the portal which was relaunched in January, and both can be accessed through the  website which contains a step by step guide to making applications.

Councillor Jim Roberts, East Ayrshire Council Spokesperson for Planning and Building Standards said: “We welcome the launch of the new portal. With this new portal online applications will be simple, save time and money, and will be delivered to our Building Standards service swiftly, enabling our officers to start considering applications more quickly.

“We’re already seeing the benefits of using a portal for planning applications through our portal which was reintroduced in January 2016. It has proved very popular and easy to use. This is the next stage in bringing the whole process together online. Both portals can now be accessed through the home page – a new single landing page leading to both the new eBuilding Standards service and also to the ePlanning service.

“There’s a single login process, so if you’re already registered on, you will be able to use the same login details for  Our website has full details and links.

“With this launch it’s now easier than ever to make single or multiple applications. For our Building Standards team, the whole process is much more streamlined and efficient, enabling us to help developers, builders and building owners by reducing printing costs, improving customer experience and maintaining our high performance levels.”
