As announced by the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills earlier this afternoon, we can confirm that no S4-S6 pupil should report to school tomorrow, even to pick up materials. They can keep in touch with their schools through the online learning and communications platforms already established. Schools will be in touch with their own S4-S6 pupils to give details about what work can be done remotely.
Parents have been asked not to contact secondary schools to make any enquiries about qualifications, as details are still being developed nationally by the SQA, following today’s decision.
As is the case nationally, we are working to ensure that no young person is disadvantaged by this decision, which has been made to ensure we keep everyone safe. We will continue to plan to ensure that all of our young people receive the qualifications they rightly deserve.
It is critical that we keep the number of children and young people in schools to an absolute minimum. We must prioritise and we are doing so for the children of key workers and our most vulnerable children.
Thank you for your co-operation.
