Kilmarnock town centre was awash with swashbucklers and princesses as a gang of mischief making seafarers and their princesses sailed into King Street last week. And there to meet them was a fantastic crowd, crammed full of mini pirates and princesses, all bedecked in fancy dress and eager to join in the fun and games.
Fiona Nicolson, Town Centre Manager from East Ayrshire Council’s Economic Development team organised the event as part of her regular programme of fun activities in the town. She said: “We’re delighted to see so many people who’ve gone to great trouble to dress up, come along and enjoy the fun and mayhem. Our events are all about creating a fun atmosphere, promoting the town centre as more than just a place to shop. Time and time again, Kilmarnock’s main shopping area is proving a great arts venue, giving us scope for all sorts of imaginative entertainment. But what really makes it is the enthusiasm of the people, who increasingly come out and support our events in large numbers, joining in the fun without hesitation and making all our efforts so worthwhile.”
