Older people from across East Ayrshire enjoyed a special date for Valentine’s Day.
Provost Jim Todd and Councillor Tom Cook, Depute Leader of the Council joined over 100 people from support accommodation social clubs and sheltered housing units at an afternoon Valentines tea dance at Dumfries House.
They were served delicious cakes and sandwiches and the musical entertainment was provided by top fiddler, Alastair Kerr.
Provost Jim Todd said: “We all had a wonderful afternoon. The food was fantastic and so was the music. Everyone, including the staff from Dumfries House, danced the afternoon away.
“Loneliness can be a real issue for older people. But in East Ayrshire, the team from Vibrant Communities are working with local partners to ensure that our older people enjoy full and active lives.”
The next afternoon tea will be held at Dumfries House on Wednesday 23 March. If you know of older people or a group that would be interested in attending please contact John Reid on 01292 590888 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
