You can apply for various transport licences in East Ayrshire. Before you can operate or drive a Taxi or Private Hire Car you will need to apply for a licence. Applications can be found using the links to the left of this page.
Please note, East Ayrshire Council have restricted the number of Taxi Operator Licence’s and any person submitting an application for the grant of a Taxi Operator’s licence would be invited to attend a Local Government Licensing Panel to put a case forward should they consider there is an unmet demand in any locality within East Ayrshire.
Please note however there is currently not a restriction on Private Hire Car Operator Licence’s. A Private Hire Car Operator’s Licence would allow you to operate by taking advance bookings only, as an uplift of a hire from the street is prohibited.
