East Ayrshire Council owns approximately 13,000 houses and each year properties are allocated in accordance with our common housing allocation policy.
To make sure that the housing list is operated quickly and fairly, we have a common allocation policy in place to match the people on the list with houses that become available to let. Please visit our housing application page for further information.
Changes to our common housing allocation policy
During 2017, the Council, along with Common Housing Register partners; Atrium Homes, Cunninghame, Irvine and Shire Housing Associations consulted tenants, applicants and others on proposed changes to the Common Housing Allocation Policy. Proposed changes have now been agreed and will be implemented from 1 February 2018. View the changes to our common housing allocation policy.
There are also several Housing Associations which provide housing for rent in East Ayrshire.
In 2012, we launched the Single East Ayrshire Register for Community Housing (SEARCH). This register makes it easier for people to apply for social housing within East Ayrshire. You now only need to fill in one application form to apply for housing with the Council and a number of local housing associations. Please visit the SEARCH page for more information.
