Ride for Dad 2018

Shockingly, 1 in 8 men in the UK will get Prostate Cancer. Caught early it's a very treatable disease. But men's reluctance to seek help can often delay diagnosis.

Our Provost, Jim Todd has been a long time supporter of Prostate Cancer UK, encouraging men to discard any embarrassment or fears, become aware of symptoms, and come forward for vital but simple checks when they should. He led East Ayrshire's first hugely successful Ride for Dad from Kilmarnock to Cumnock in 2013 with over 100 bikers sporting blue beards and proclaiming their willingness to talk about and seek help with prostate concerns.

Provost Todd will again take his beloved Triumph and lead up to 200 bikers on an awareness raising "Ride for Dad" covering a route through East Ayrshire towns and villages to promote the cause and show men it needn’t be embarrassing to care about prostate health.

All profits from the day will go to Prostate Cancer UK.

A message from Prostate Cancer UK

"Prostate CancerUK has a simple ambition: to stop men being killed by prostate cancer, so more dads, brothers, husbands, sons and mates can live longer, spending more time with the people they love, free from the fear of prostate cancer.Through shifting the science to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer. We fund research into new and improved tests, and better, targeted treatments without life-changing side-effects. We work to make sure everyone knows the facts about prostate cancer. We’re here for anyone who needs support. And we’re working to understand more about how the disease starts, grows and develops so we can stop it in its tracks.
