Council tenants and Registered Tenant Organisations in East Ayrshire are being encouraged to have their say on rent setting proposals for 2020-21. The Council has a statutory duty to consult on the level of council house rent increase each year.

Proposal document

We have outlined the two options for rent increases:

  • Option 1 - increase rents by 1.5%
  • Option 2 - increase rents by 2.5%

The formal consultation period will commence on Monday 9 December 2019 and end on Friday 10 January 2020.

You can respond to the consultation via the following:


Complete an online survey. Please read the proposal document above before completing the survey.

If you would like to respond via the online survey but don’t have internet access, please contact your Neighbourhood Housing Team. You can also access the internet at local libraries. Check our online map with locations of computer access points.

How the findings will be used

The views and comments provided will be considered in setting the council house rent level for 2020/21.  We will publish the results online and also include details in a report to Cabinet in early 2020.
