New Kilmarnock school consultation

Result of consultation

Option 4 was the preferred option which will result in:

  • the merger of James Hamilton Academy with Kilmarnock Academy to create a new secondary school
  • the merger of New Farm Primary School and Early Childhood Centre with Silverwood Primary School to create a new primary school with Early Childhood Centre
  • the two new educational establishments being co-located within a new campus for ages 3–18 on the Sutherland Drive site

Please note that this proposal is still subject to Cabinet approval at its meeting on 13 November 2013.

All documentation in the consultation, including the proposal document itself and individual letters home, encourages parents to send in comments. In addition, all pupils have been consulted by an independent consultant.

The process, whichcloses on Friday 28 June 2013, is monitored by school inspectors.

The Council has conducted the consultation in a way designed to encourage maximum participation.
