Gaelic language plan 2019-23

This consultation is now closed. If you have any queries please get in touch with the Education Service.

Proposal

We recognise the value of the Gaelic language to our national culture and heritage and we are committed to working with our Community Planning Partners, Bòrd na Gàidhlig and others, to safeguard the Gaelic language, heritage and culture for future generations and wherever possible, to develop use of the language.

Our second Gaelic Language Plan 2019-23 details how we will continue to support the objectives of the National Plan for Gaelic over the next five years and sets out how we will meet our obligations to ensure our communities, stakeholders and partners recognise our ongoing progress to promote and use Gaelic.

We are confident that our Plan will contribute to raising the profile and visibility of Gaelic, both nationally and locally, by sharing resources, good practice and working with voluntary organisation contacts and networks.

A’ Ghàidhlig

Tha a’ Ghàidhlig na pàirt chudromach de dhualchas, dùthchas is cultar na h-Alba, agus tha sinn an geall air na h-amasan a chaidh a chur an cèill anns a’ Phlana Chànain Nàiseanta Ghàidhlig.

Airson 2013-17, dh’fhoillsich sinn sreath de dh’amasan is cinn-uidhe anns a’ Phlana Ghàidhlig againn agus mar a bhiodh sinn gan coileanadh. Chaidh am plana sin ullachadh fo fhrèam Achd na Gàidhlig (Alba) 2005 agus chaidh aontachadh le Caibineat anns a’ Ghiblean 2014.

Tha sinn a-nis air ath-sgrùdadh agus ath-ùrachadh a dhèanamh air a’ Phlana Ghàidhlig againn airson 2019-23.

Plana Gàidhlig 2019-23

Mar a dh’aithnicheadh anns a’ chiad Phlana Gàidhlig againn, ma tha a’ Ghàidhlig gu bhith air a h-ath-bheothachadh mar chànan beò ann an Alba, tha fìor oidhirp a dhìth bhon riaghaltas, bho na roinnean poblach is prìobhaideach, bho bhuidhnean coimhearsnachd agus luchd-labhairt fa leth gus:

  • inbhe na Gàidhlig àrdachadh;
  • togail is ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig a chuir air adhart; agus
  • barrachd cleachdaidh na Gàidhlig a bhrosnachadh.

Tha an dara Plana Gàidhlig againn a’ togail air seo, agus tha e a’ cur an cèill mar a chleachdas sinn a’ Ghàidhlig anns an àite-obrach agus ann an conaltradh ris a’ phoball is ris na com-pàirtichean againn.

Tha am plana a’ leudachadh mholaidhean air mar a leasaicheas sinn a’ Ghàidhlig thairis air an ath chòig bliadhna anns a’ choimhearsnachd, ann am foghlam, anns an dachaigh agus taobh a-staigh nan ealain, na meadhanan, dualchas, gnothachas agus turasachd.

Tha sinn a-nis a’ dèanamh co-chomhairleachadh air seo, agus tha na beachdan, barailean is smuaintean agad glè chudromach airson cumadh a thoirt do chànan is cultar nan Gàidheal ann an Siorrachd Àir an Ear anns an àm ri teachd.

Luchdaich a-nuas lethbhreac den phlana an seo, gabh pàirt anns an sgrùdadh air-loidhne an seo.
