Extended Early Learning and Childcare hours

This consultation is now closed. If you have any queries please contact our Education Service.

We need your views to help inform how East Ayrshire's Early Years Service will develop to meet the needs of our local communities.

In August 2014, all eligible children aged three and four years, as well as two year olds who are, or have been since turning two, looked after and accommodated by the local authority, or who are subject to a Kinship Care Order, will be entitled to 600 hours of Early Learning and Childcare, an increase of 125 hours per year.

At present we offer 5 x 2.5 hour sessions, either morning or afternoon, within school term times. It is our intention to develop a more flexible service which better meets the needs of children and parents in our local communities.

We are inviting parents and carers to have their say on how the extra hours may be delivered.
