As part of the Customer First programme, the Scottish Government, East Ayrshire Council and other agencies have introduced the National Entitlement Card (NEC) to make it easier for people to access public services across Scotland using just one card. Visit the national entitlement card website for more details.
NEC cards production stopped
Due to COVID-19, no NEC cards are currently being produced. Please see information below from the National Entitlement Card Programme Office (NECPO):
It has been decided to stop NEC production temporarily from 5pm Friday 27 March. At this stage, it is anticipated that this shutdown will be until after Easter.
We therefore have to advise that until otherwise notified, no NEC applications will be processed, and no replacement or renewed cards will be sent out. No ferry vouchers will be sent out.
All cardholders and applicants should be advised that during the current emergency, there may be an extended delay in issuing cards. NECPO will update and social media accordingly.
Transport Scotland are working with partners in the bus industry to ensure that eligible passengers are not denied access to essential travel and further information will be provided in due course.
These restrictions will remain in place for the time being and will be continually reviewed over the coming weeks.
We advise that you continue to check National Entitlement Card website for any updates.
