WINDOW REPLACEMENT - NOTES FOR GUIDANCE

Some of Your Questions Answered

When will Work Start?

The Contractor will issue notification 7 days before work is due to start.

How Long will the Works take to Complete?

The new windows will be fitted the same day although any fitting of new external doors may take a little longer as well as any plaster and joinerwork repairs.

Will I need to take down curtains, curtain rails, blinds etc.?

Yes. Curtains, curtain rails and blinds should be taken down before the windows are fitted.

If your blinds no longer fit after your new windows are installed, the contractor will arrange for the alterations to be done as part of the contract at no cost to you.

Will I be expected to pack away any Ornaments, Pictures, Breakables etc.?

Yes. The Contractor will be working in all rooms and needs a cleared working area to carry out the window/door installation work. All breakables etc. should be cleared and packed away to prevent any accidental damage.

Will I need to lift Floor Finishes or cover my Furniture?

No. The main Contractor will use dust sheets to protect your floor and furniture from dust etc., created in removing the existing and fitting of the new windows/external doors.

Will I need to be present when the works are being carried out?

It is advisable that, if possible, you vacate your home during the day to allow the contractor to carry out the works, although it is entirely up to you if you wish to be present.

Will I get help towards any redecoration costs?

Yes. You will receive an allowance after the works are complete.

What do I do If I have any problems with my new installation?
