PAYING YOUR RENT

Your rent is due to be paid every week but you can arrange to pay your rent every fortnight or month if this is how you prefer to pay. Please note that rent is due in advance and arrangements to pay outwith the weekly cycle should take account of this.

Methods of Payment

  • You can pay by cash or cheque at any local office (see addresses and opening times below).
  • You can pay by standing order through your local bank. Just fill in the standing order request form and return it to the Rent Accounting Team at Holmquarry House, Holmquarry Road, Kilmarnock, KA1 4EP.
  • You can pay by Debit Card or Credit Card at local offices or by telephone on 01563 574057. If paying by phone, please have your rent account number and debit / credit card number handy.
  • You can pay by Direct Debit through your bank account. Contact the Rent Accounting Team on 01563 555510 or 555542 at Holmquarry House, Holmquarry Road, Kilmarnock, KA1 4EP and they will send you the appropriate forms.

Problems paying your rent?

If you are having problems paying your rent, please contact your local office or arrange to speak to your housing officer. You may be eligible for benefits and we will make realistic and affordable arrangements to help you pay off any arrears you have.

We can also help you get in touch with a Welfare Rights Officer who will help you claim any rebates or benefits that you are entitled to. They will also help you to manage your income better.

Legal Action

If you don’t make an arrangement to pay off rent arrears, or if you fail to keep to an arrangement then the Council will take Court Action. This could result in the Council arresting your wages or even eviction from your home.

Independent Advice

There are other agencies who can help you claim Housing Benefit and give you advice on managing debt.
