HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS
Housing Associations are non profitable organisations that provide housing
for rent, low cost home ownership and shared ownership. These organisations
usually build new housing but can also modernise old buildings to provide
modern housing.
Several housing associations operate within East Ayrshire and the table
below gives you details on how to contact them, where their developments
are and what type of housing is provided.
ATRIUM HOMES
This is recently formed company who have taken over management of all
Scottish Homes stock in East Ayrshire. They now allocate, manage and repair
these homes in their role as landlord.

What happens if I apply for and get a Housing Association house?
You simply become a tenant of a Housing Association and not the Council.
You pay your rent to your new landlord and report repairs and problems
to them as well.
What will the rent levels be?
The level of rent you will have to pay will vary across each Housing
Association but just like Council Housing you can apply for Housing Benefit
if you are unemployed or on a low income.
Can I apply for a Housing Association house and a Council house?
Yes. You can be registered on as many waiting lists as you want. The
more options you give yourself the more chance you will have in being
housed.
Where do I find out more?
You can ring any of the Housing Associations noted above and ask them
for more information or get them to send you an application form.
