Strategic Housing Investment Plan 2009/10 - 2013/14

East Ayrshire Council has produced a Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP), which shows how resources will be used over the medium term (up to 5 years) to deliver the affordable housing investment priorities articulated in the Local Housing Strategy.

The main focus is how Development Funding and social housing providers' funds are used to improve the provision of good quality houses in the social rented sector and affordable owner occupation.

The Scottish Government require the SHIP to be updated annually.

Inspection of Housing Services by the Scottish Housing Regulator

The Scottish Housing Regulator has delivered the following assessment of our services:

  • Housing Management – Good (B)
  • Asset Management and Repairs – Good (B)
  • Homeless Services – Fair (C)

This is a welcome confirmation of our good performance over our housing management business and demonstrates that we are one of the top performing Scottish housing authorities inspected by the regulator.

There are areas where we need to improve and these will be addressed as part of our improvement agenda over the coming weeks and months. We are all committed to improving services for tenants and we will be inviting the Registered Tenants Organisations to join us in planning for improvement.

Last summer we contracted Market Research UK to conduct a tenant satisfaction survey on our behalf. Throughout July researchers visited 1500 of our tenants at their homes and conducted interviews to give us your views on the services we provide. We would like to thank those of you who took the time to speak to the interviewers. Please find the full report attached. If you would like any further information regarding this survey please contact our Customer Liaison Team on 01563 576839.
