If your house was built less than ten years ago you will not be eligible for grant assistance, with the exception of Disabled Grants.

Please note that no works must start until written approval has been given by East Ayrshire Council, as repair and improvement grants cannot be paid in retrospect.

Should approval of your application be granted, a £25.00 fee will be deducted from your grant money to pay for the recording dues of the Notice of Payment.

Please note grant aid is not at present available for the following categories:

  • Replacement windows or doors
  • Central heating
  • Electrical rewiring
  • Roughcasting
  • Conversion and/or derelict buildings
  • Loft / cavity wall insulation


The following grants as detailed below may be available:

  • Re-Roofing Grants
  • Lead Main / Pipe Replacement Grants
  • Structural Repair Grants
  • Improvement Grants

The following mandatory grants will be made available:

  • Standard amenity required (including additional for disabled)
  • B.T.S. Housing
  • Where an improvement/repair notice has been served

Re-Roofing Grants (Discretionary)

Re-roofing grants are means tested.

What is available?

Maximum of £20,000 of which a 100% grant may be available depending on income.

What is required?

  • Copy of title deed/disposition for the property in your/the owner(s) name.
  • Three competitive estimates.
  • Completed Financial Assessment form.

At present this category is currently dealt with from a waiting list.

Lead Main / Pipe Replacement Grants (Discretionary)

Lead main / pipe replacement grants are means tested.

What is available?

Maximum of £20,000 of which up to 100% grant may be available, depending on income. A minimum 50% grant shall be available.

What is required?

  • Copy of title deed/disposition for the property in your/the owner(s) name.
  • Three competitive estimates.
  • Completed Financial Assessment form.

At present this category is currently dealt with from a waiting list.

Structural Repair Grants (Discretionary)

What is available?

A maximum of £20,000 of which a 100% grant may be available, depending on income.

What is required?

  • Copy of title deed/disposition for the property in your/the owner(s) name.
  • Three competitive estimates.
  • Completed Financial Assessment.

       

If East Ayrshire Council, Planning and Building Control Division serves a repairs notice on the property the structural repair becomes a mandatory grant

Standard Amenities Grant (Mandatory)

A Mandatory grant is available if your property lacks any of the following standard amenities.

  • a fixed bath/shower/hot and cold water supply at same
  • a wash hand basin/hot and cold water supply at same
  • a sink/hot and cold water supply at same
  • a water closet

What is available?

A maximum of £20,000 of which a 100% grant may be available, depending on income. A minimum grant of 50% shall be available.

What is required?

  • Copy of title deed/disposition for the property in your/the owner(s) name.
  • Three competitive estimates
  • Completed Financial Assessment.

Disabled Grants

Mandatory in relation to standard amenities to meet the needs of a disabled person.

Discretionary in relation to all other improvements to meet the needs of a disabled person.

What is available?

A maximum of £20,000 of which a 100% grant may be available depending on income.

What is required?

  • Social Work assessment and approval of your needs.

Improvement Grants (Discretionary)

An improvement grant may be available to insert a damp proof course and to install solums to existing houses.

What is available?

A maximum of £20,000 of which a 100% grant may be available.

What is required?

  • Copy of title deed/disposition for the property in your/the owner(s) name.
  • Three competitive estimates.
  • Completed Financial Assessment.
