7. CARE AND REPAIR
7.0 Introduction
Most people want to stay in their own home for as long as possible but
may need assistance in tackling problems of an old or unsuitable house.
Organising and financing building and repairs work can be complex and
often a distressing experience.
7.1 East Ayrshire Care and Repair
The East Ayrshire Care and Repair service offers advice and assistance
to help home owners repair, improve or adapt their home so that they can
live in comfort and safety in their own community. This service is managed
by Shire Housing Association Ltd.
Care and Repair offers advice and assistance to people who are older
or who have a disability to maintain, improve or adapt their homes in
order that they can remain at home in comfort in their own community.
The service is a free and confidential client orientated service, available
to owner and private tenants who are over sixty years old or who have
a disability may also apply for assistance.
The service will provide advice on invitation, our project officer will
carry out home visits to discuss what works may be needed to repair or
improve the property.
Following the visit we can help:
OR by assisting to:
- Organise for surveys or drawings to be prepared if necessary
- Obtain prices from contractors
- Apply for grants or loans that may be available for the works
- Organise the works through to completion
