Town Centre Management

The town centre of Kilmarnock provides an ideal venue for shoppers and provides an important role as a focal point not only for those living in Kilmarnock but also for those in the surrounding towns.

The Cross area of the town acts as the hub of the shopping experience.

Extending south from this point is King Street, a long pedestrianised area that plays host to major national chains such as:
Marks and Spencers
Boots the Chemist
Tesco
WH Smith

Index; and
Dorothy Perkins.

Seating, sculpture and hanging baskets add to the relaxing environment on King Street and there is a broad selection of shops that mean you can buy everything from a bed to a biro.

Heading east from the Cross, you arrive at the Burns Mall which offers a selection of shops under cover and again in a relaxing environment. There are more nationally known brands here such as:
Argos; and
JJB Sports
as well as local traders offering a range of product and services.

This is also the route to the town's bus station that hosts frequent services to all the major centres of population in the west of Scotland.
West of the cross is Bank Street, another pedestrianised shopping area that winds round past the pretty Laigh High Kirk.
Bank Street has local traders offering:
clothing, perfumes, toys and jewellery and if all that shopping leaves you tired, there is the popular Coffee Club where revitalising food and drinks can be enjoyed.

North east of the Cross is the Foregate - a row of small specialist shops that offer further choice for the shopper.

At the top of the Foregate each month is a Farmer's Market which brings a range of locally produce to the town and this proves a very popular attraction.

The Foregate also leads to the town's multi-storey car park, which has secure parking for over 400 vehicles and adds to a range of parking facilities located around the town centre's perimeter.

Due north of the Cross is Portland Street which has seen recent redevelopment to offer both shopping and leisure opportunities in the heart of the town centre.

Shoppers can relax in Kilmarnock Town Centre thanks to the excellent Close Circuit Television scheme that provides round the clock security along with a Police Radio Link system which has contributed to extremely low crime figures.

A SaferChild scheme is also in place to ensure any children that become separated from their parent or guardian are quickly reunited via a communications network in place in the town.

So, Kilmarnock Town centre really is the place to come for ALL your shopping needs !
