ENERGY ADVICE

The Energy Advice Unit continues to work to help residents deal with any fuel related problems which they may have. We offer a free home visit which enables us to give advice which is specific to the individual needs and circumstances of the householder.

Homeowners in East Ayrshire can now cash-in on grants for insulation and heating measures.

Insulation Measures (Private Households Insulation Scheme)

South West Scotland Energy Efficiency Advice Centre has launched a scheme for householders to install Cavity Wall Insulation for as little as £80-£125 (normal cost is around £300-£400). Also, those who have no existing loft insulation can get full (250mm depth) insulation installed in their loft for as little as £80-£130 (normal cost is around £200-350).

Central Heating Measures (New Boiler Grant Scheme)

In addition to these cost-saving insulation measures, the Advice Centre also offers a New Boiler Grant Scheme which offers a grant and interest-free loan towards the cost of installing an energy efficient boiler. A Grant of £100 and an optional interest-free loan of up to £1,500 (repayable over 18 months) is available for installing a high-efficiency or condensing boiler from their eligible list of boilers.

Once installed these heating and insulation improvements can continue to save you money on your heating bills by as much as £200 every year!

Applications must be received and approved in advance of any work being carried out. Funding will only be allocated to applicants who receive a letter of approval once their application has been assessed.

Scottish Power's Home Insulation

Scottish Power will arrange loft insulation and cavity wall insulation free of charge if the qualifying benefit is being received.
