COUNCIL TAX - BANDS AND CHARGES

Council Tax Bands

The Assessor, who is independent of the Council, determines which of eight Valuation Bands applies to each home in East Ayrshire. The level of Council Tax payable depends on the Valuation Band of your home. A house in Band "H" is charged three times more than a Band "A" house. (See table)

Council Tax Charges

For the current year (2008/2009), East Ayrshire Council has set the Council Tax as shown in the table below for properties in each Valuation Band.  (See table)

Water and Sewerage Charges

Separate water and sewerage charges are set by Scottish Water and the Council is legally required to include them on the Council Tax bill. The level of charges is subject to scrutiny by the Water Industry Commissioner for Scotland and the Scottish Executive. (See table)
