30th January 2008
The Domestic Abuse Charter of Rights was launched at the Protection conference on 30 th January at the Park Hotel. It aims to encourage people living with domestic abuse in East Ayrshire to take the brave step to talk to someone about it by outlining the response that they can expect from any of the agencies that they might be in contact with.
The promises contained in the Charter are that anyone talking to us about their experiences of domestic abuse will be listened to, respected and not be blamed for what is happening to them. We will make sure that we know about the options that are available to them or, if we don't, that we can direct them to someone who does. Most importantly, we will always make their safety our biggest priority.
Over the next few weeks, the Forum will be distributing the charter to agencies throughout East Ayrshire and hopefully we can all encourage anyone living with domestic abuse to get the support they need and deserve.
