Child Protection in East Ayrshire

Introduction from Chair of the Child Protection Committee and Chief Officers

We are pleased to present the East Ayrshire Child Protection Committee Annual Review for 2007/08 and Business Plan for the years 2008/11. It has been directly informed by, and is compliant with, the Scottish Executive's guidance document ‘Protecting Children and Young People: Child Protection Committees (2005)'. This guidance requires that the senior managers of key agencies, particularly within Health, Police and Local Authorities, provide leadership and acceptance of responsibility in promoting the best interests and protection of children and young people. These objectives are at the heart of what we as a Child Protection Committee are about and ‘Keeping Children Safe' is at the centre of our vision for children in the East Ayrshire Area. This report and plan builds on our first Annual Report completed in 2006, which was acknowledged by the Scottish Executive as an excellent report. We have listened to feedback on last year's report and can demonstrate how, through effective partnership working, the East Ayrshire Child Protection Committee, ensures the continuous improvement in our delivery of protective services for children and young people.
