Stewarton Academy has much to offer pupils. The school serves the
community of Stewarton and the adjacent villages of Dunlop, Kilmaurs
and Lugton as well as the surrounding farm areas. A significant
number of parents from outwith the catchment area have also chosen
to make placing requests for their children to attend the Academy,
however places are limited and the Authority operate a reserved
places scheme for the school.
At Stewarton we aim for a well-ordered, pleasant environment in
which learning of all kinds can flourish : an environment in which
all of our young people can develop their own individual potential
to the full, educationally and socially, in cultural, sporting and
leisure pursuits.
We seek for our pupils an education which will meet their particular
needs, and which will prepare them to take their place in society
and in the ever-changing world of the workplace. For this, they
will need competence in a wide range of skills, a sense of self-reliance
and increasingly, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Success in national examinations is important. This is achieved
through diligent work and regular study, and through effective classroom
teaching. At Stewarton Academy we are proud of the achievements
of our pupils, as each year they gain access to higher and further
education or to successful employment.
We also seek to create a caring environment where pupils can learn
in an atmosphere of friendliness and courtesy, where each child
is considered to be worthy of respect and where all pupils are encouraged
to respect the needs of others.
So much of what we do depends on the constant support of parents
and family and on fostering a genuine partnership between pupils,
parents and staff where everyone is working to achieve our aims.
