Welcome to James Hamilton Academy

James Hamilton Central School opened on the 4th January 1933 and
is named after the Rev James Hamilton who was chairman of Ayrshire
Education Committee for many years. The move to the present
buildings took place in October 1976 and was officially opened a
year later. The school's motto "AD ALTIORA" means
towards higher things.
We wish to encourage young people to see learning as an opportunity
to build up skills and confidence, and as an endless source of pleasure
and personal achievement. Our mission is to raise the level
of expectation of all our pupils through 4 basic aims:
-
To promote the social development of our pupils
- To promote the development of our pupils'
minds
- To promote the emotional development of our pupils
- To prepare our pupils for the adult world
We recognise that education involves a partnership between pupil
and teacher, between home and school. Much time and care is
taken to maintain links with home by letter, telephone, teacher's
visits and Parents' Nights. Parents calling at the school,
whether by appointment or not, are assured of a friendly welcome
and a sympathetic and informed response form staff.
In addition, parent bulletins are issued three times each year
to give up-to-date news of the school life.
