Community Learning & Development

What is Community Learning?

The Community Learning and Development Service is part of East Ayrshire Council's Educational and Social Services Department and offers a wide range of community based learning opportunities across East Ayrshire for young people and adults.

Working in partnership with community groups, Kilmarnock College and other agencies, we provide community based learning opportunities that provide learners with the opportunity to:

  • Take the first steps back into learning
  • Acquire new skills and qualifications
  • Increase their confidence
  • Improve their employment prospects
  • Increase participation in community activity
  • Improve their health

The majority of our courses are free and are offered in a variety of venues across East Ayrshire. The community based courses available include:

  • Confidence building
  • Handling stress
  • Parenting courses
  • Gaelic Language
  • Committee skills
  • The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
  • Training for adult literacy and volunteer tutors
  • Support with reading, writing and number work
  • ICT courses
  • Youth work training
  • Assertiveness
  • Family learning
  • Adult guidance
  • Creative writing

Further information on Community Learning & Development and our partners can be found the East Ayrshire Learning Opportunities Directory or by calling 01563 578101.
