Community Learning and Development
What is Community Learning?
The Community Learning and Development Service is part of East Ayrshire
Council's Educational and Social Services Department and offers a wide
range of community based learning opportunities across East Ayrshire for
young people and adults.
Working in partnership with community groups, Kilmarnock College and
other agencies, we provide community based learning opportunities that
provide learners with the opportunity to:
- Take the first steps back into learning
- Acquire new skills and qualifications
- Increase their confidence
- Improve their employment prospects
- Increase participation in community activity
- Improve their health
The majority of our courses are free and are offered in a variety of
venues across East Ayrshire. The community based courses available include:
- Confidence building
- Handling stress
- Parenting courses
- Gaelic Language
- Committee skills
- The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
- Training for adult literacy and volunteer tutors
- Support with reading, writing and number work
- ICT courses
- Youth work training
- Assertiveness
- Family learning
- Adult guidance
- Creative writing
