ALTERATION TO EAST AYRSHIRE LOCAL PLAN: FINALISED DRAFT

The Alteration to the East Ayrshire Local Plan updates the policies & proposals contained in the existing adopted local plan for the area, and is designed to accomodate future housing, industry and other development needs to the year 2017.

The Finalised Draft of the Local Plan Alteration has been prepared in three sections:

Introduction & Strategic Approach (Part 1)
Part 1 provides an introduction to the Local Plan Alteration and sets out the overall strategy of the Plan on a topic by topic basis.

Strategic & General Development Management Policies (Part 2)
Part 2 details the strategic and general policies used by the Council to promote new development, on a topic by topic basis, throughout East Ayrshire.

Settlement & Rural Area Development Opportunities (Part 3)
Part 3 incorporates a series of Local Plan maps and details various development opportunity sites comprising:
- housing sites
- industrial sites; and
- miscellaneous development opportunity sites identified for other uses or a range or mixture of uses.
Part 3 of the Alteration document also includes
- a brief description of each settlement
- a synopsis of the particular local issues to be addressed; and
- details of each development opportunity site identified.

Sustainability Appraisal & Strategic Environmental Assessment
As an integral part of the Local Plan preparation process, a Sustainability Appraisal of the Alteration to the East Ayrshire Local Plan Finalised Draft has also been carried out.
