East Ayrshire Childrens
Panel
TRAINING
Newly appointed Members are required to undertake a course of preliminary
training. They are permitted to serve on Hearings after satisfactory completion
of the first part of this course, but must complete the full course. Serving
Panel Members are expected to attend in-service training. Meetings of
the whole Panel are held regularly. Members are expected to attend these
and to benefit from the exchange of views and experience. Members failing
to attend a certain amount of training are unlikely to be re-appointed.
 |
There will be six full days training and
five training evenings. Following satisfactory completion of this
course, newly appointed members start serving on hearings. Regular
in-service training will involve 10 evening training meetings held
locally and one in-service weekend. |
Conferences
Panel Members are encouraged to attend conferences organised by outside
bodies although the number of places available is limited. |

National Children's Panel School
A number of Panel Members are invited each year to attend the Children's
Panel National School. Appointment by the Secretary of State is subject
to new members undertaking a preliminary training course. This year pre-service
training will take place from the beginning of January until the end of
April.
