ELECTION: WARD 9 (DOON VALLEY)

An election was held for the return of one Councillor for Ward 9 - Doon Valley on Thursday 1 October 2009.

The winning candidate was Moira Pirie for the Scottish Labour Party.

A list of all the candidates is shown below:

Nicholas Martin, Scottish Conservative and Unionist
Moira Pirie, Scottish Labour Party Candidate

The number of votes cast was 2416 and the turnout was 26.78%.

Postal Votes

The Electoral Administration Act 2006 introduced new measures to improve security of postal and proxy votes.

All postal and proxy voters are required to give their date of birth and signature when applying for a postal or proxy vote. It is important that the signature is completely within the white box and does not touch the shaded area or the application will not be valid.

When you receive your postal ballot paper pack through the post, it is crucial that you follow the "Instructions to Voters" which will be enclosed with the pack. You must provide your signature and date of birth on the Postal Voting Statement and return it, along with your completed ballot paper, in the envelopes provided.

YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR SIGNATURE AND DATE OF BIRTH ON THE POSTAL VOTING STATEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT, YOUR POSTAL VOTING STATEMENT WILL BE INVALID AND YOUR VOTE WILL NOT BE COUNTED.

The last date to apply for a new Postal Vote for this election is 16 SEPTEMBER 2009 . If you think you will be on holiday or away from home for any reason at the time of an election, you may be entitled to an absent vote. Proxy votes are also available for people who are physically unable to visit their polling station. The last date to apply for a Proxy Vote is 23 SEPTEMBER 2009 . ELECTION: WARD 7 (BALLOCHMYLE)

An election was held for the return of one Councillor for Ward 7 - Ballochmyle on Thursday 11 December 2008.

The winning candidate was David Shaw for the Scottish Labour Party.
