100th Birthdays and Diamond Wedding Anniversary
If you, or someone you know, residing within East Ayrshire, is due to
celebrate a 100th birthday or Diamond Wedding Anniversary and you wish
to request civic recognition of this special occasion, you should contact
the Provost's Office on 01563 576036/576505
for further information.
It is usual for the Provost, whom failing the Depute Provost, along with
the Local Councillor for the area, to call on the person/couple to present
a basket of flowers on behalf of the Council. In addition, if a copy
of the birth/marriage certificate can be provided at least four weeks
prior to the celebration, a message of congratulations from HM The Queen
can be requested. It may also be possible to arrange a photocall and,
if you are interested in this, you should indicate your interest when
making the arrangements. The timing etc of the Provost's visit will be
confirmed to the applicant by letter.
Please note that a minimum of 4 weeks notice is required to allow
contact to be made with Buckingham Palace. Also, at the time the application
is made, a copy of the couple's marriage certificate is required in respect
of a Diamond Wedding Annivesary and in respect of a 100th birthday a copy
of the individual's birth certificate is required.
