Community Safety Awards

Community Safety Awards 2005 - 2008
In order to qualify for the Awards 2005 - 2008 Community Safety Partnerships
across Scotland were asked to identify, evidence and plan a three year
programme to tackle up to three local community safety problems within
their own area. Within the overall objective of a safer, stronger Scotland
key community safety and crime reduction themes are:
- Reducing crime (particularly violent crime)
Tackling alcohol and drug related crime
Diverting young people away from criminal and anti-social behaviour
Reducing the fear of crime
Improving road, fire and home safety, and
Strengthening Community Safety Partnerships.
East Ayrshire, in accordance with the Community Planning Theme: Improving
Community Safety have identified six key objectives, these are to:-
- Reduce crime, especially violent crime
Work with young people to reduce the likelihood of being involved in
crime
Maintain and improve public safety
Promote road safety and reduce road accidents
Develop safety initiatives to help people feel more safe and secure
Improve safety in neighbourhoods and homes
