Special Uplifts
A special uplift service is provided to allow you to have large items of waste collected from your household. There are three distinct collections available to householders:
Bulky Uplifts – furniture, carpets, mattresses, 3 piece suites and non white goods electrical items eg televisions
White Goods Uplift - fridges, freezers, fridge freezers , washing machines, tumble driers, cookers, ovens/hobs and dishwashers.
Kitchen Units and Bathroom Suite Uplift
Special Uplifts - Bulky Items
The following items can be collected using the Bulky Uplift service:
Furniture
Carpets
Mattresses
3 piece suites
Non white electrical goods eg televisions
To arrange a bulky items uplift, Contact Cleansing Services. You will be asked for your name, address and details of the items you wish to have collected. Please place your bulky items within your property boundary as close as possible to your usual collection point. Items will be collected within 7 working days.
Each household is entitled to 5 free bulky uplifts per calendar year ie from 1 January to 31 December, and a maximum of 6 items will be considered as one bulky uplift. In any one week, Cleansing Services will accept 2 bulky uplift requests (a maximum of12 items) per household. Any bulky uplifts in excess of the 5 provided free, will incur a charge, currently £26.78 plus VAT per hour/per man.
Remember that any item(s) which are taken directly to our Recycling Centres by householders may be deposited, free of charge
If your unwanted items are still in good condition and can be reused by others, consider passing them on to the Furniture Redistribution Scheme.
Special Uplifts - White Goods
The following items can be uplifted using this service.
Fridges
Freezers (all types)
Fridge/Freezers
Washing Machines
Tumble Driers
Cookers
Ovens/Hobs
Dishwashers.
These white goods will be uplifted for a charge of £15.45 per item. To arrange a white goods uplift contact your nearest Local Office, who will process your payment, take your name, address and details of the item(s) you wish to have collected, and advise when the uplift will take place. Please place your item(s) within your property boundary as close as possible to your usual collection point.
Remember that any item(s) which are taken directly to our Recycling Centres by househilders may be deposited, free of charge.
Special Uplifts – Kitchen Units and Bathroom Suites
If you have employed a contractor to replace your kitchen units of to refit your bathroom, they should remove all waste as part of your contract.
However, if required, the Council will uplift kitchen units and bathroom suites for a charge of £30.68 plus VAT, per uplift. To arrange an uplift of kitchen units or bathroom suites, Contact Cleansing Services. Note: kitchen units and bathroom suites are not accepted as eligible items in special uplifts – bulky items.
Remember that any item(s) which are taken directly to our Recycling Centres may be deposited by householders, free of charge.
