Neighbourhood ServicesCleansing Love Food Hate Waste Launched on 1st November 2007, by the Scottish Waste Aware Group(SWAG), the Love Food Hate Waste campaign is designed to help householders avoid wasting the food that they buy. How often are we as shoppers tempted by the "buy one get one free offers" or "three for two" offers in our ocal suopermarkets only for these "offers" to end up in the bin? Each year Scotland throws away 650,000 tonnes of food waste (around £800m worth of food or an average of £366 per Scottish household) with over a 1/3 of the food Scottish households buy ending up in the bin - at least 1/2 of this wasted food could have been eaten.
