What can I put in to my residual household waste bin?
You can put household waste that cannot be recycled, by using your new Blue, Brown and Black recycling bins/box, into you residual household waste bin. This will include food scraps, disposable nappies etc. Plastic bottles can be taken to your Local Recycling Point.

When will my residual household waste bin be uplifted?
We will service your residual household bin every two weeks on your normal collection day.

I am concerned that my residual household waste bin will smell if not emptied weekly!
The only items which may smell are food waste and nappies. Wrapping them tightly in plastic bags or scented nappy sacks will stop any odours escaping.

I am concerned that a less frequent service will mean that vermin will be attracted to my bin!
This has not been experienced by other authorities. Vermin will only be attracted to accessible food waste. Wrap food in plastic bags and keep your bin lid closed and they will not be attracted to it.

What happens if my residual household waste bin is full before my collection day?
Ensure that all paper and cardboard is placed in your blue bin and that glass and cans are placed in your box. However, excess waste can be taken to one of the recycling centres or placed in the emptied bin until the next service day.

Side waste will no longer be uplifted.

Can I place extra bags out as side waste?
Side waste will no longer be uplifted .
Excess recyclate can be taken to one of the Council's Recycling Centres or Local Recycling Points.

Can I get an extra or larger residual bin?
Certain households with larger families or several children in nappies may be eligible to apply for an extra residual bin. For further information please contact Cleansing Servcies.
