Recycling Waste
Recycling is the third step in the waste hierarchy.
Recycling waste materials means less waste going straight to landfill, and everybody needs to participate in separating out their waste to meet Government set targets.
Recycling provides many environmental benefits including less air pollution, more efficient use of finite resources and less energy use.
Recycling effects your community in other ways too. It creates more employment opportunities, encourages producers to take more responsibility for their waste and therefore improves economic competitiveness reducing prices!
The most common forms of recycling within your area are the new Kerbside Recycling Service and Bring Banks at your Local Recycling Points .
The whole of East Ayrshire will be included in the new Kerbside Recycling Service by autumn 2005. Residents will now be able to recycle paper, cardboard, glass, garden waste and food & drink cans direct from their homes.
For further information on this service go to Household Waste Recycling .
