Background
East Ayrshire Sports Council is funded by East Ayrshire Council and was
formed on 22 April 1996. The organisation exists to promote the development
of sport in East Ayrshire by supporting and advising local voluntary sports
clubs, promoting joint work between member clubs and organisations and
ensuring best practice and standards amongst member clubs.
Member sports clubs and organisations come from a wide cross section
of the local sporting community and cover a range of different sports.
Management
The work of East Ayrshire Sports Council is overseen by a group of council
officers, elected members and volunteers from member clubs and organisations
who together form the executive committee.
The executive committee is elected each year at the Sports Council’s
Annual General Meeting. All member clubs and organisations are entitled
to nominate individuals for election to the executive committee. The executive
committee meets on a six weekly basis to discuss and progress matters
associated with the Sports Council and to consider all applications for
grant aid.

The Sports Council aims to:
1. Promote and develop an interest and participation in sport within
the East Ayrshire Area.
2. Coordinate the work of the various sports clubs and organisations within
the area.
3. Promote or support competitions, championships or other social events.
4. Assist local clubs, organisations or individuals to arrange courses
for the improvement of personal performance or training of coaches or
referees.
5. Assist in the formation of sports clubs or organisations
6. Publish and distribute up-to-date information on local sports clubs,
organisations, activities and facilities.
