TALENTED ATHLETE SUPPORT PROGRAMME
East Ayrshire Council is committed to developing our promising athletes of today who have the potential to be tomorrow's sporting heroes - We know that they will become a real form of inspiration for many living in the authority and beyond!
As part of its charter for the commonwealth games in Glasgow 2014, East Ayrshire Council and Sports Council are proud to offer athletes residing within the authority, a package of support in reaching their full potential in their chosen sport.
East Ayrshire Council and Sports Council recognises the enormous effort and substantial personal cost that resident sportspersons commit to attain international and national success in their chosen sport. As a form of recognition and assistance individuals are invited to apply to one of East Ayrshire's two strands of Athlete Support:
Developing Potential & Podium Potential Guidance Notes
Applications for the 2010 Talented Athlete Support Programme will be available in July 2010.
Winners of the 2009 Talented Athlete Support Programme
East Ayrshire's sporting stars of the future and unsung heroes were among the proud recipients of prizes at the Sports Council Awards Evening held at St Joseph 's Academy on Thursday 10 December.
The awards ceremony recognised the massive contribution made by East Ayrshire's very own sport coaches and leaders as well as the authorities most talented of athletes.
Developing Potential Awards were also given to those athletes who are representing their country in their chosen sport. Podium Potential Aware were also given to Clare Johnston of Auchinleck Indoor Bowling Club and Graeme Kane and Peter Kirkbride of Kilmarnock Amateur Weightlifting Club for being selected to represent Scotland at the 2012 Commonwealth Games in Delhi .
Cllr John Campbell, Depute Provost for East Ayrshire Council said: “The Sports Awards Evening was a great success and I would like to congratulate all the finalists in gaining their awards. They represent our sporting hopes for the future and should be extremely proud of their achievements.”
