COMMUNITY HEALTH DEVELOPMENT
Funded by East Ayrshire Council, NHS Ayrshire and Arran and the Community
Regeneration Fund, the Community Health Improvement Partnership (C.H.I.P.)
team provides a wide range of services for the residents of East Ayrshire.
The CHIP Van (Community Health Improvement Partnership)
is a mobile healthy living centre targeting local communities across East
Ayrshire. Each community receives regular visits providing an opportunity
for individuals to access information on a variety of health issues. Other
services available include 5 minute health checks, dietary advice, smoking
cessation advice, referral to other services within Ayrshire and information
about what activities are running in the local area.
Lifestyle Referral Scheme
Linking closely with the CHIP Van, the Lifestyle Referral Scheme operates
a number of Lifestyle Clinics across East Ayrshire. Health professionals
such as General Practitioners, Practice Nurses and physiotherapists can
refer patients who will benefit from changing one or more factors in their
lifestyle, e.g. physical activity, eating habits, smoking habits, drug
or alcohol problems to our referral scheme. One to one consultations are
held with each patient and a unique programme is developed to suit the
needs and interests of the individual.
Men’s Health Programme
East Ayrshire reflects the national trend in terms of lower uptake of
health services by men. In order to redress this imbalance the Lifestyle
Development Officer (Men’s Health) is working within the community
to promote services to men and encourage their participation in new and
existing initiatives.
All of the Community Health initiatives work closely together and often
organise joint events and promotional activities. A number of community
groups also benefit from informal chats, presentations or come and try
sessions provided by members of the team.
C'mon Catrine - it's your future!
Catrine has been selected to pilot an exciting new Healthy Weight Community
initiative on behalf of the Scottish Government. This will take a whole-community
approach to improve healthy eating, physical activity and healthy weight
activities as part of everyday life, therefore making healthy options
the easy choice for local people. Download

wide range of services and activities available in Catrine!
