& Use
Anyone can visit our libraries
and have a look around or use the reference services but
to borrow items & use the computers you need to be a member.
Who can join?
Anyone can!
Joining is easy! You can join at any age.
Membership forms are available from any Community Library or download from the links below.
Adults should complete the
form and return with two forms of I.D. to their Community Library. One
form of I.D. must contain your name and address and the other your signature. If you have a photographicdriving licence you are only required to bring it (rather than two forms of I.D.)
Young People's membership has to be guaranteed by a parent/guardian. The
parent/guardian must show ID if not a current member.
Each new member will receive
a library card that can be used in any Community Library.

How much can I borrow?
Adult members may borrow up
to 8 books, 2 videos, 4 DVDs, 4 CDs, 6 talking books, 2 language packs
and 4 magazines.
Young people may borrow up
to 5 books, 1 video, 2 DVD and 2 CDs..
How long can I keep the
items?
The standard loan period for
books, talking books and language packs is 3 weeks.
The loan period for magazines at the Dick Institute is 3 weeks
The loan period for magazines at Cumnock and Galston Libraries is 1 week
The hire period for DVDs and CDs is one week.
Items can be renewed over the
telephone unless another borrower has requested them.
How much does it cost?
It's free to borrow books but
adult books that are not returned on time incur charges. There is a charge
for hiring audio-visual items. Audio-visual items that are not returned
on time incur additional charges.
There is a small charge for adults reserving items.
There is an additional charge for items borrowed through interlibrary
loan.
