Planning and economic development
The Planning and Economic Development service promotes, stimulates and encourages all types of development required to meet the needs and aspirations of the people of East Ayrshire.
The division is made up of the following sections:
Development management
This section processes and advises on the need for planning and other permissions. It also monitors and resolves planning enforcement issues.
Building Standards
Building Standards is responsible for the control of any building work to ensure it is designed and constructed to the national Building Regulations, thereby protecting the health and safety of all users.
Development Planning and Regeneration
Development Planning and Regeneration is responsible for producing the East Ayrshire Local Plan and Ayrshire Structure Plan, as well as co-ordinating and implementing environmental and townscape improvements.
Economic Development
This section undertakes the ongoing review of the local and national economic context. From that, it develops the strategy within which the council delivers targeted assistance to support the growth and development of economic activity and business within East Ayrshire. This is achieved through the provision of advice and funding, the development and operation of training projects, and accessing support and funding available through other agencies including Scottish Enterprise, Business Gateway and the Scottish Government.

This service provides a variety of different routes to employment, training or further education such as:
