Police service

East Ayrshire is served by Strathclyde Police Force. This is the largest police force in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK, covering 12 local authority areas. Policing services are tailored to suit the individual needs of the area and led by a divisional commander.

East Ayrshire comes under Strathclyde Police 'UC' sub division which sits within 'U' division covering all of Ayrshire. Divisional headquarters are based in Kilmarnock and there are 9 community policing teams delivering services locally.

Specialist force units such as police dogs and mounted branch, underwater search and rescue and armed response units can be called in to support traditional policing when required.

Strathclyde Police are members of the Community Safety Partnership and work closely with the Council to keep East Ayrshire safe and tackle crime through partnership initiatives.
