Our health and wellbeing are affected by many things: the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink and the environment around us all contribute to our quality of life in one way or another.
The Environmental Health Service in East Ayrshire enforces a wide range of legislation covering many aspects of public health, including food safety, health and safety, public health, pollution, contaminated land, air and water quality.
The service also operates a Pest Control/Dog Warden service as well as a Corporate Enforcement Unit which is responsible for the detection and prosecution of environmental crime such as fly tipping, littering, dog fouling and breaches of the “smoking” legislation.
We work closely with other departments within the Council and also with external agencies such as NHS Ayrshire and Arran and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
