There are many specialist services provided for older people who are either retirement age and over, or in certain circumstances have reached the age of 50.
This type of housing is often referred to as sheltered or supported accommodation.
There are housing associations and Council complexes throughout the East Ayrshire area.
The main aim of the Council is to assist older people to remain living at home where this is possible.
Many services can be provided at home, however for some older people moving to a smaller or supported accommodation might be a better option.
Supported accommodation means housing designed for older people, where some level of care or support is included as part of the living arrangement.
