Household residual waste bin

Your household residual waste bin is for items that you cannot be recycled. This might include disposable nappies and food waste.

By recycling all your paper, cardboard, garden waste, glass and cans, you should create more space in your normal refuse bin. As a result your residual bin is collected once every two weeks – in between your recycling weeks. By wrapping food and other items which may create an odour tightly in plastic bags you will prevent any smell from your bin. Your bin should not attract vermin so long as the lid is kept closed.

In an effort to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and encourage residents to recycle as much of their waste as possible, we will not uplift additional bags from beside your bin. If your bin is full before your collection day you can take any excess waste to the recycling centres or local recycling points, but we would encourage you to recycle as much as possible.

Certain households with larger families or several children in nappies may be eligible to apply for an extra residual bin. Please contact us to discuss your eligibility to receive an additional container.
