Management and inspection

Management

Management traditionally focuses on planning, organising, staffing and controlling. According to some researchers, management is concerned with creating order and stability, whereas leadership is about adapting and changing.  The overlap between leadership and management is centred on how both influence a group of individuals in goal attainment.

Principles of inspection and review 2011

Each year, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) inspects and reports on the quality of education in pre-school centres, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, community learning and development services, colleges and residential educational provision. It also inspects the education functions of local authorities and carries out joint inspections of services for children.

Follow through reports are required within two years of an initial inspection.  For further information on specific reports, please follow the link.
