The Scottish Government recognises the importance of school meals to the health and wellbeing of Scotland’s children.
East Ayrshire Council's catering team, Onsite Services, is committed to providing healthy, nutritious, good value options for pupils.
The current cost of a standard two-course school meal is £1.95.
Free school meals
If you receive certain benefits your child could be entitled to free school meals. Find out more and download an application form.
Special dietary requirements
We can cater for special dietary requirements. Please contact the school in the first instance.
Our menu is operated on a four-weekly rotation. View our current school lunch menus.
Our family service lets children participate in a whole dining experience - from setting tables and sitting down together, to clearing the tables at the end of the meal. Children are offered a two-course meal in an environment that encourages improved eating habits and social skills, supported by teaching and catering staff.
We introduced the cashless system to Grange and St Joseph’s campuses in August 2009.
This new system improves aspects of the school meals service, as:
it complies with the Schools (Health Promotion & Nutritional) Act 2007, by reducing stigma of free meals
the system is very fast, therefore reducing queues
parents pay for meals by cheque, removing the need for pupils to carry cash
alerts can notify catering staff if a pupil tries to buy unsuitable food – important in cases of allergies or dietary conditions
it reduces workload for staff
The following schools are currently using the cashless system:
Grange Campus (Grange Academy, Annanhill PS and Park School)
St Joseph's Campus (St Joseph's Academy and St Andrew's PS)
