Makeover for Cumnock Town Hall

27/02/2012 16:38:06

Cumnock Town Hall is due to receive a facelift after Cabinet this week approved funding of £700,000 for internal and external work on the building.

In addition to work to improve the appearance of the outside of the building, internal work will include improving access to the building, enhancing internal finishes and upgrading audience and stage facilities. This will allow an improved range of events and activities to be promoted at the Town Hall.

Additional funding for the project is also anticipated from Cumnock CARS and Creative Scotland. The refurbishment programme will be managed in house.

Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the Council, said: “We are delighted to be able to give this well used community facility the upgrade that it deserves. The refurbishment work will hopefully attract even more activities and events to Cumnock, adding to the exciting work that is already going on with the new office development about to open and all of the very successful CARS work that is going on in the area. We’re also looking forward to working with the CREATE group from Cumnock to develop a new events programme when the refurbishment is complete.”
