KILMAURS WALKING FESTIVAL FIRST!

30 Aug 2010 15:01:56

Kilmaurs Community Council and East Ayrshire Countryside Services Department will be hosting their first walking festival, this weekend, Friday 3 September to Sunday 5 September.

The event will kick off on Friday with a sponsored walk for P6 and P7 pupils from Kilmaurs Primary School around the Kilmaurs Town Trail. Bottles of water have been kindly donated by Sainsbury’s for the walk.

On Saturday 4 September you are invited to join the Countryside Rangers on an evening bat walk and discover which bat is so small it can fit inside a matchbox, which bat can hear a ladybird walking on a leaf and which bat can eat 3,000 insects in a night! This walk will leave from the Jougs at 8pm and last for approximately 1 hour. Please bring a torch with you if possible.

There are a variety of walks taking place on Sunday 5 September and opens at 12 noon at the Jougs with the official opening at 12.30pm. There will be four guided walks which will take in some of the village’s beautiful surrounding countryside.

Children should be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are welcome as long as they are under proper control. Please remember to wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
