Winter advice

CarsinWinter

Winter weather can be severe and can quickly disrupt our daily lives. Being aware and better prepared can help us, our families and our communities to stay safe, warm and healthy throughout the winter months.

Getting ready for winter can help minimise interruption in our everyday lives both at home, and when we are out and about. Even doing one or two simple things now could help save you time and money. Preparation now can also help you stay healthy and avoid becoming unwell.

These pages contain helpful information, links and answers to some of your questions about preparing for winter and how East Ayrshire Council will respond during severe weather.

  • our gritting routes (see online mapping)
  • grit bin locations (see online mapping)
  • daily weather forecasts
  • daily roads decisions
  • housing advice and housing repairs

In the event of severe weather in East Ayrshire we will update these pages regularly, as and when required, to ensure you are notified of the most recent decisions. We will notify you of any changes to our normal service provision, particularly for:

  • community care arrangements
  • refuse collections
  • schools and nurseries updates
  • community facilities updates

We will also post updates on Twitter, Facebook and our own Looking Local Digi TV channel (Sky Community Channel 539).
